How has the demand for healthy food in Asia evolved over the years?
The demand for healthy food in Asia has increased significantly over the years as people become more health-conscious and aware of the benefits of a healthy diet. Plant-based proteins, specially, have had a series of moments over the past few years. The industry has moved beyond hype into actual value creation, emerging as a healthy and environmentally sustainable protein source.
How does the growing middle class and urbanization impact the demand for healthy food in Asia?
In the past year, with the increase in income and urbanization, diets have shifted towards more processed and high-fat foods, leading to an increase in non-communicable diseases. Along with that, unsurprisingly, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of a healthy and balanced diet, leading to an increase in demand for healthier food options in Asia. Hence, we have seen a wide range of new products launches including organic food, superfoods, plant-based proteins, and low-fat options in the supermarket as well as in restaurants. This trend is expected to continue in the future, as consumers become more health-conscious and seek out healthier food choices to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
